Da Nang Travel Guide

Things to Do in Da Nang, Vietnam

Da Nang is one of Central Vietnam’s easiest cities to explore: beaches in the morning, mountain views by lunch, riverside lights at night, and smooth private car access to Hoi An, Hue, Ba Na Hills, and My Son.

Quick guide
  1. Start at My Khe Beach
  2. Visit Marble Mountains
  3. Explore Son Tra Peninsula
  4. See Dragon Bridge at night
  5. Plan a day trip from Da Nang

Da Nang works well for travelers who want variety without long travel days. The city sits between the East Sea and green mountain slopes, with the Han River cutting through the centre. It is modern, clean, and convenient, but still close to heritage destinations like Hoi An Ancient Town and Hue.

1. Relax at My Khe Beach

My Khe Beach is the easiest place to begin. Go early for soft light, local swimmers, and a quieter shoreline. By late afternoon, seafood restaurants and beach bars become lively, making it a good stop before heading into the city for dinner.

2. Visit Marble Mountains

The Marble Mountains are a short drive south of central Da Nang and are one of the region’s most rewarding half-day stops. The official Da Nang tourism portal describes caves, viewpoints, pagodas, and the main Thuy Son peak, with ticketed entry and an optional elevator service.

Private car tip: Marble Mountains pairs naturally with Hoi An. Many travelers stop here between Da Nang Airport and Hoi An instead of making a separate trip later.

3. Drive Around Son Tra Peninsula

Son Tra is where Da Nang feels wild. The peninsula has forested roads, sea views, and Linh Ung Pagoda with the famous Lady Buddha statue. It is best with a car because the viewpoints are spread out and the roads can be steep.

4. Watch Dragon Bridge at Night

Dragon Bridge is the city’s signature landmark. Visit after sunset for the best photos, then continue along the Han River for cafes, night views, and relaxed walking streets. Weekend evening visits are especially popular, so plan your pickup point carefully.

5. Take a Day Trip to Ba Na Hills

Ba Na Hills is a classic Da Nang day trip, especially for families and first-time visitors. The Golden Bridge, mountain cable car, gardens, and amusement areas need several hours. A private car is useful because you can leave early, avoid waiting for shared buses, and return when your group is ready.

6. Eat Like a Local

Da Nang is excellent for casual food. Try mi Quang, banh trang cuon thit heo, fresh seafood, and strong Vietnamese coffee. If you are staying in Hoi An, an evening food trip to Da Nang is still easy by private car.
